Ballin' for PMH

Saturday night saw us rocking up to the Esplanade Hotel in Freo for the 2014 Paediatric Oncology Gold Ball.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and the ball was held in honour of the 14,500 plus children worldwide who are diagnosed with cancer every single month. All proceeds from the ball are going to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation for paediatric oncology research, as well as to local families who have children with cancer.

It was thought provoking to hear firsthand accounts of families facing this disease with their children every single day and how the common portrayal of childhood cancer as happy bald children running around a hospital ward takes away from the reality of hardship and unbearable pain.

Although there was some heavy content to demonstrate the reality of the cause, the night was a fun affair and after a delicious three course meal and a few cheeky champagnes, photo booth antics seemed like the obvious choice.
We sure know how to take a great photo!
Special mention to the girls at Miss Olive boutique in Piccadilly Arcade. I literally ran in there on Friday night with no options and a frazzled look on my face and they had me in a dress I loved five minutes later.

Also, big shout out to Hanbel and Anh, who attempted to make me look like a girl for the occasion - sorry for messing up your handiwork before I even arrived Hanbel!

Big props to the event organiser, Tash, for pulling off such a great event

xx Luce
